FILED TO SPORTSJOURNEY/LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins and Inova Blood Donor Services will host their spring blood drive on Saturday, April 26 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the team’s indoor practice facility at Redskins Park (21300 Redskin Park Drive, Ashburn, Va. 20147).

The spring blood drive is part of Inova’s “Give Local, Save Local” campaign, which aims to drive awareness around the importance of blood donation by hosting a series of co-branded blood drives in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

Redskins players including linebacker Ryan Kerrigan and tight end Niles Paul are scheduled to attend as well as Redskins Cheerleaders.

All donors will have the opportunity to participate in Redskins Play 60 activities, pose with the Super Bowl trophies and receive a free t-shirt and vouchers on behalf of Chick-Fil-A and Alamo Drafthouse.

For more information or to sign up to donate blood, visit www.redskins.com/bloodsaves.

To give blood, donors must be feeling generally well on the day of their donation, be at least 16 years of age (with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated whole blood in the past eight weeks (56 days) or double red cells in the past 112 days. The donation process takes approximately one hour.

Each donor receives a brief examination, during which temperature, blood pressure and hemoglobin (iron level) are measured. For more information about eligibility requirements or to sign up online, call 1-866-BLOODSAVES or visit www.inova.org/donateblood.

Inova Blood Donor Services supplies 24 hospitals in Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C. metro area with lifesaving blood and blood products.  One blood donation can save up to three lives.
