FILED TO SPORTSJOURNEY/ARLINGTON, Va. – Monumental Network’s series Caps Red Line (CRL) has been nominated for two Emmy Awards by the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS-NCCB). The 56th Emmy Awards will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Md.
The Caps Red Line segment “Elliot’s Take: Elliot Learns and Performs Let’s Go Caps Live” was the only nomination for an Emmy Award among 15 entries in the Sports Program Feature/Segment category and Episode 6 from Season 5 of Caps Red Line was nominated for an Emmy Award in the Sports Program Series category. CRL has now been nominated for seven Emmy Awards since the show’s creation in 2008.
The Elliot’s Take segment, which aired March 25, 2013, featured Elliot Segal performing Let’s Go Caps live during a game after being mentored by Capitals Organist Bruce Anderson. The official nominees are: Michael Wurman, Executive Producer, Rob Hedrick, Co-Executive Producer, Joe Dupriest, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Elliot Segal, Segment Host, Todd Burger, Director of Photography, Timothy Libeau, Post-Production Supervisor, Bruce Anderson, Talent, and Torrey Smith, Supervising Producer. Episode 6 from Season 5 of Caps Red Line, which aired April 1, 2013, featured Cruisin’ with Braden Holtby, All Access with Eric Fehr and Mathieu Perreault, Forces of Hockey with Professor Lou and Professor Brouwer and Elliot’s Take with Elliot Segal. This year marks the fourth consecutive season that Caps Red Line has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the Sports Program Feature/Segment category. Caps Red Line has won the award in each of the last three years. The official nominees are: Michael Wurman, Executive Producer, Rob Hedrick, Co-Executive Producer, Joe Dupriest, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Torrey Smith, Supervising Producer, Todd Burger, Director of Photography, Timothy Libeau, Post Production Supervisor, Guerin Austin, Host, Elliot Segal, Segment Host, Louis Bloomfield, Ph.D., Segment Host, Troy Brouwer, Segment Host, Brian Ossip, Editor, and DJ Stange, Graphics. Brouwer, who co-hosted the “Professor Brouwer” segment, becomes the first Washington Capitals player to be nominated for an Emmy Award. The episode can be viewed here.
