FILED TO SPORTSJOURNEY/ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have released their 2014 preseason schedule, Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian MacLellan announced today. The schedule will feature eight games against five opponents and will include four games at Verizon Center.

Washington will open their preseason schedule against the Buffalo Sabres on Sept. 21 at Verizon Center. They will then travel to Philadelphia to play the Flyers on Sept. 22 and battle the Boston Bruins on Sept. 24 before hosting them back in Washington on Sept. 26. After that, the team will travel to Montreal on Sept. 28 to play the Canadiens, they will replay Buffalo on Oct. 1 and then will conclude their preseason schedule with two games at home; one against Philadelphia on Oct. 2 and the final preseason game vs. the Carolina Hurricanes on Oct. 5.

The Capitals were 4-0-4 in the preseason in 2013 and their preseason record overall is 147-115-33-10.

All preseason games will be carried via WashingtonCaps.com, with selected games to be broadcast on 106.7 The Fan (FM) and WFED-AM 1500. The full preseason broadcast schedule will be announced in September. The complete 2014-15 NHL regular season schedule will be released at a later date.
