Both the Washington Redskins and the man himself announced today that college free agent wide receiver Jerry Rice, Jr., son of Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice, has signed with the team. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. In addition, the team announced that they have waived cornerback Blake Sailors.

Rice, Jr. took to Instagram after the signing.

“Just blessed,” he wrote under the picture. “This is an amazing day and I’m excited to get back to work to help the Redskins get back to the promised land. They gave me an opportunity and best believe they will get 110% out of me! Thank you for everybody who believed in me when it was dark.. The younger Rice, 22, played collegiately at UCLA from 2009-12 before transferring to UNLV where he appeared in nine games for the Rebels in 2013. He attended Menlo H.S. in Atherton, Calif. where he earned two varsity letters playing wide receiver, defensive back and kick returner. He was born on July 27, 1991.

Rice, Jr. (5-10, 185) also had tryouts with the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers this offseason.

The Redskins have gotten themselves another awesome offensive weapon for quarterback Robert Griffn, III if Rice, Jr. is anything remotely similar to his dad in talent.

Hail.
