RGIII drills 10-8-14 RS ST

The Washington Redskins travel to the desert this Sunday to take on the 4-1 Arizona Cardinals. While Redskins’ quarterback Robert Griffin, III was out on the field this week working with trainers and looking very mobile, he is still “Out” for the upcoming game and likely will not get on the field until he’s actually practiced for two weeks according to head coach Jay Gruden. Linebacker Perry Riley, Jr., cornerback Tracy Porter, safety Ryan Clark and defensive end Stephen Bowen all worked with trainers as well. Everyone else, including tight end Jordan Reed and linebacker Brian Orakpo were participating to some degree with teammates in drills (the latter’s status has been officially upgraded from not practicing earlier in the week to limited practice Friday).

Saying that Gruden is anxious to get Reed out on the field is somewhat of an understatement. This should be no surprise given the young pass catcher’s talents. There’s a lot about the game planning he would affect… if he could just get out onto the field.

“He’s a heck of a tight end,” Gruden said yesterday. “He’s going to help us in all phases if he’s ready to go. We’ve got to cross our fingers, hope he’s ready to go. The same with Ryan Clark, [Brian] Orakpo and Trent Williams. All of these guys are very valuable to us, and Jordan is no different. Jordan gives us another dimension with the passing game and obviously he’s good enough in the running game so he’s a duel-threat. It just adds to the mix. They have great corners out there with [Antonio] Cromartie and obviously Patrick Peterson so it’s a matchup we could utilize if he’s ready to go.”
