Ashburn, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed tackle Michael Huey to the team’s practice squad and released wide receiver Rashad Ross from the same.

Huey (6’ 4”, 317 lbs.) played for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League the past three seasons, helping the team win three consecutive ArenaBowl crowns and earning All-Arena honors each season. He also had brief stints with both the Seattle Seahawks and San Diego Chargers during the 2011 preseason.

From 2007-10, Huey played collegiately at Texas, where he was a three-time member of the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll and a second-team Academic All-Big 12 selection as a senior in 2010.

Huey, 26, attended Kilgore (Texas) H.S., where he was U.S. Army All-American and all-state performer. He was born on Sept. 28, 1988.

Ross (6’1”, 181 lbs., Arizona State) participated in training camp with the Redskins and impressed many. But the rookie was cut from the team in August during the shave down to 75 players. He spent some time with the Chicago Bears but was brought back to the Redskins practice squad in October where he has been until today. It would not be a surprise to see him either picked up by another team or eventually brought back to Washington in some capacity.

Hail.
