Ashburn, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced this week that a new restaurant called the Hail+Hog Kitchen & Tap will open this spring in a popular section of Loudoun County called One Loudoun.

The restaurant will prominently feature the Redskins NFL franchise with items and pictures of interest that illustrate the team’s five total league championships and three Super Bowls since the team’s founding in 1932. The Redskins are such a big part of the Washington, D.C. region; it should come as no surprise that there would eventually be a property like this near their headquarters in Ashburn, Virginia (in Loudoun County).

The name “Hail+Hog” pays homage to the history of the Redskins and their longstanding anthem, “Hail to the Redskins,” along with a tribute to their storied offensive line of the 1980s and early 1990s that were nicknamed “The Hogs.”

“The ability to connect with the community in a very real way through Hail & Hog is a natural extension for us,” Terry Bateman, Redskins Executive vice president said. “We are excited to partner with g3* to create a first-class venue where Redskins fans can come together with friends and family and celebrate the team’s history.”

The new restaurant is huge. It is more than 12,000 square feet in size and is on two separate levels that should offer two very distinct experiences for guests. With a chef-driven menu, the downstairs will feature a prominent bar showcasing unique hand-crafted cocktails, an extensive wine list and the best local craft beers. The food menu will focus on locally sourced products prepared fresh daily. The building finishes are described as “distinctive and refined, creating a warm and welcoming environment for the perfect date night, power business lunch or after-work socializing.”

The first floor also will be home to its own radio/television studio designed for the Redskins to broadcast radio and television programming. When not in use the studio will be available for people to reserve for small private events. In addition to the indoor spaces, there is ample and spacious patio seating for seasonal use.

The second floor (which also has its own entrance), will likely be one of local sports fanatic’s favorite spots. It will have wall-to-wall next-generation 4K TVs which, anyone who has been watching the evolution of HDTV knows, provide eye-popping visuals. This section also features a rooftop bar which overlooks the plaza at One Loudoun. With indoor/outdoor features including a big fire pit and hand-crafted casual fare, the upstairs at Hail & Hog is expected to become a favorite of sports fans.

The press release regarding the Hail+Hog indicates that the venue might be a good place to host private events, stating that it has space both downstairs and upstairs for groups of all sizes. The Redskins themselves will host a variety of events including select press conferences at the restaurant.

The Washington Redskins fan base is a loyal one. No doubt this eatery will enjoy it’s own loyal fans… especially during the NFL season.
