Ashburn, Va. – The Washington Redskins have named two new coaches to their staff: Kevin Carberry as Assistant Offensive Line Coach and Shane Waldron as Offensive Quality Control.

Carberry is entering his third NFL season after spending the last two years as an offensive assistant for the Dallas Cowboys. During his time in Dallas, he coordinated the daily practice schedule and scripts, assisted with the weekly run game installation, broke down film of each week’s opponent and coordinated self-scouting both in-season and during the offseason. During practices, he coached the offensive scout teams and assisted with the offensive line.

Carberry spent the first five seasons of his coaching career at the collegiate level, serving as a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Kansas from 2009-2011 and coaching defensive ends at Stephen F. Austin from 2012-2013.

During his playing career, Carberry was a bit of a journeyman, attending various NFL training camps in the role of defensive lineman. In 2005 he was with the Cleveland Browns, in 2006 he was with the Carolina Panthers during the offseason. However, he spent the 2005 regular season on the practice squad of the Detroit Lions. He also played for NFL Europe’s Berlin Thunder in 2006, as well as the Arena Football League’s New York Dragons in 2007. He was with the Philadelphia Soul in 2008, earning an Arena Bowl title in that 2008 season. He also coached at St. Rita H.S. and St. Ignatius College Prep in Illinois concurrent with his time in NFL Europe and the AFL.

A four-year letterman at Ohio University, Carberry earned All-MAC honors at defensive end as a senior team captain. He graduated from Ohio in 2005 and earned his Master’s in sports administration from Kansas in 2010.

Waldron is entering his sixth NFL season in a career that includes two different stints in various capacities for the New England Patriots. First, in 2002-2003, he served as an operations intern and then in 2004 he was an operations assistant. He later returned to the team as a quality control coach in 2008 and then as tight ends coach in 2009.

For the last four years, Waldron has been at the University of Massachusetts. He spent 2012 and 2013 as Recruiting Coordinator/Tight Ends Coach and then in 2014 and 2015 he was Offensive Line Coach.

His coaching background also includes stops with the United Football League’s Hartford Colonials (2010) and the University of Notre Dame (2005-07).

A native of Portland, Ore., Waldron is a 2002 graduate of Tufts University where he was a three-year letterman as a tight end and long snapper.
