The Atlanta Falcons 2016 season is flying in fast and the Dirty Birds will be looking to close their home stadium (the Georgia Dome) with a bang. Part of that process is the release of the team’s unofficial depth chart which has now been released.

One area that the Falcons really looked to improve drastically in the offseason was the defense.

Looking at this side of the ball, fans should be pleased with the quality depth Atlanta has. A solid rotation of players to keep the pressure on the opposing team’s quarterback will be essential for them to have success.

This preseason this defense swarmed to the ball, making surefire gang tackles in the running game. It was physical at the point of attack and disruptive in the offensive backfield. Rookies Deion Jones and De’Vondre Campbell are listed as the starting middle and weak side linebacker.

Both of these guys were instrumental in making sound, open-field tackles during the preseason and were consistently in a position to make plays on the ball carrier.

With veteran Jonathan Babineaux  and second-year man Grady Jarrett leading the charge, the Falcons defense should get a solid push up front. Atlanta’s defensive line has the potential to be a real irritant to upcoming opponents, allowing their secondary to clean up on any mistakes made by the rival’s quarterback.

Any NFL depth chart can and will change. But Falcons fans should be excited about the solid depth and talent on the defensive roster.
