You and I have been fans about the same amount of time. I love your reference to the team as “my Redskins.” While I don’t mean to be exclusive, I have found that this term of endearment seems to be most associated with fans who were around during Gibb v. 1.0. And, of course, this is no surprise because we were rooting for a winning team!

It’s a shame that we don’t hear many fans use the words “my” and “Redskins” in the same sentence so much these days. Hopefully, Shanahan senior will get us to the point where we do!

Have you ever read the book “Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream” (written by Hunter Thompson)? There was also a movie based (rather loosely, in some folks’ opinion) on the book by the same name. One of my favorite actors, Johnny Depp, was in it and, while a sleeper in the box office, it is somewhat of a pop culture favorite. Kind of like the “Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

In the book, there is a well-known bit of dialog that is sometimes called “The Wave speech.” My article is satire based on that “speech.” I’m sure you could find some portion of it – or maybe all of it, on the web.
