Ashburn, Va. – The Washington Redskins have invited fans to attend their annual Draft Day Party at FedExField Saturday, April 30. Fans are also welcome to enter as well as cheer-on those participating in the Redskins’ 5K Draft Day Dash.
Admission and parking for the event is free. The parking lots open at 10 a.m. and fans should go to the Comcast SportsNet Gate (Gate H) at 11 a.m. for entrance to the stadium. More details on the Draft Day Party (and to register for the event) can be found at www.Redskins.com/DraftDay.
The NFL Draft will be aired on the high definition video boards. As well, fans can tour the Redskins’ stadium locker room, test their passing and kicking skills down on the field and dress up in a Redskins uniform to take pictures with the Super Bowl trophies.
Redskins’ current and former players will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures with fans, schedules permitting.
New team partner Hoffman’s Meats will provide fans the opportunity to taste some of their all-natural one-of-a-kind menu items and vote on a signature team hot dog that will be exclusively sold at FedExField for the 2016 season. In addition, Coca-Cola, GEICO, PMSI and other Redskins partners will provide activities for fans throughout the day.
The 5K Draft Day Dash activities will kick off at 10:30 a.m. in Lot H with a pre-race party featuring the Redskins Cheerleaders, Alumni, a drumline, complimentary pre-race snacks and more. The 5K run will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the course will lead participants around the parking lots, through the stadium and finish at the 50-yard-line. Fans interested in participating can sign up at www.redskins.com/5K. All participants will receive an official Draft Day Dash T-shirt, finisher medal and more. Space is limited and the race is expected to sell out.
The Women of Washington (WOW), the Redskins’ official women’s platform, will have more than 60 runners participating in the Draft Day Dash 5K. All WOW members will receive an exclusive TEAM WOW T-shirt. In partnership with the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, WOW will also host a Kickoff to the Draft Party Monday, April 25 at a D.C. boutique steakhouse called The Gryphon. Fans can join all the WOW activities at www.WOWredskins.com/draft-week.
Redskins Salute, the team’s official military appreciation platform, will have a military-themed activation space in the Bud Light Party Pavilion by Gate G which will have family-friendly activities hosted by military-supported organizations and vendors. Current Redskins Salute members can RSVP for the VIP Draft Day Party at www.redskinssalute.com/events. There will be complimentary food and beverages, giveaways and player meet and greets exclusively for Redskins Salute members (limited spots available).
According to the team, fans can stay informed with up to the minute Redskins Draft updates by downloading the Redskins official mobile app at www.redskins.com/app. The app can also be used to participate in a Redskins Draft Day Party scavenger hunt at FedExField for a chance to win prizes.
Proceeds from the 5K Draft Day Dash will benefit the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, whose mission is to make a positive impact on youth development in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
Fans are also encouraged to sign up for the Redskins Mock Draft Challenge from Friday, April 15 at 10 a.m. ET through Thursday, April 28 at 5 p.m. ET. If a fan correctly picks the top 10 selections in the first round of this year’s draft in addition to the Redskins’ first selection (currently the No. 21 overall selection), he or she could win complimentary Club Level season tickets for 2016. Why are we Redskins fans. I will tell you in one word…….PRIDE! You may see fans of other teams whoopin and hollerin, but when their team loses, you don’t hear a peep! NOT HERE……..NOT IN ANY REDSKINS FAN’S CAVE, MAN WOMAN, IT DON’T MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When we win, we are the most celebratory fans in the NFL, and when we lose, heart break or not, we are the most LOYAL fans in the NFL! Our men in the Redskins play their hearts out for us every week! Our men gave us a Glorious 7 game winning streak that won us the NFL East Title, are we gonna let them down……HELL NO! A Redskins Fan is more than being a fan, it is a WAY OF LFE! You awake in the morning and sometime during the day you are gonna go into your Cave and look at the greatest emblem in the NFL and say HAIL YEAH! Have we had tough years, hell yeah. Have we had our disappointments……Hell yeah, have we stuck by our team no matter what……..HAIL YEAH! I wouldn’t give you a plumb nickel for a fan who only wears their colors when they win, or waits to see who wins the Super Bowl and then buys that teams Jacket……..That’s not how Redskins Fans Roll……we paint our homes. We tatoo our bodies, we paint our cars, we sometimes even manicure our lawns with the Redskins Emblem and we say Hail to the Redskins, if you don’t like it, get stepping…..we aren’t moving, we aren’t shutting up and you are just gonna have to walk around me cause you aren’t moving me………..SO GET YOUR WAR FACE ON………BE LOUD AND PROUD and if someone asks, “Are you a Redskins fan?” Look them straight in the eye and say……..Dam Straight Brother……win or lose, I will never quit, i will never surrender my colors, I will never leave my team…….I WILL support, Love and be there for my team no matter what…..whether I am sick or not, whether I am working or not, whether I am being loving to my spouse……..The Redskins will always be somewhere in my heart, and that will never change! Like I said…..”When I start to dribble and become really old, just put me in my wheelchair and paint it Burgundy and Gold!” Nuff said..
